HAIRraising
What is the HAIRraising Appeal?
HAIRraising is a fundraising appeal by the hairdressing industry to help raise £1 million towards new operating theatres at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Why should I help?
Great Ormond Street is one of the worlds leading children's hospitals and the largest children’s research hospital outside North America. It is normally the only place that can provide the specialist expertise to help children, treating patients from all over the country and with demand greatly exceeding space these children desperately need our help.
Headmasters' involvement in HAIRraising
As co-founders of the HAIRraising appeal, Headmasters are committed to raising as much as possible for the redevelopment of Great Ormond Street operating theatres. With your help, Headmasters hope to raise £61,000 which will enable the purchase of state-of-the-art theatre pendants for use in the Neurosciences Unit. This Unit combines the most comprehensive clinical services in the UK with world-class pioneering research and training. Each year the neurosciences team treats over 8000 children from across the world, carrying out over 750 operations.
These pendants are crucial pieces of equipment for any operating theatre. They deliver power, data, oxygen outlets, nitrous oxide for anaesthetics and compressed air for running surgical instruments. Quite simply operating room pendants provide the essential tools to undertake modern surgery, without which the children requiring those 750 surgical procedures each year could not be treated.
Headmasters will be organising fund-raising events and challenges throughout the year including sponsored runs and charity social events. Please also look out for in-salon fundraising events that you can take part in.
