HM insider caught up with Aaron to find out the inspiration behind the look and what is was like to meet the former spice girl,

“The shoot had a nightlife theme with dazzling fluorescent lighting and electric colours for a real club scene vibe, complemented by striking neon make-up and styling.

I prepped the hair with L’Oréal Professionnel Volume Lift, L’Oréal Professionnel Volume Riche and L’Oréal Professionnel Pli to create lots of body, volume and movement. I then blow-dried the hair to achieve lift at the roots, before tonging sections into loose waves, which then brushed out for a smooth, voluminous, bouncy finish.

I grew up listening to the Spice Girls so was really excited about meeting Mel, she was a real pleasure to work with and very professional, I felt honored to be able to work alongside her.”

Attended by over 300 of the beauty industries elite, the glittering Grand Finals took place at Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel and paid homage to the hair and beauty stars of 2012 as voted for by clients.  

The English Hair and Beauty Awards comprised of thirteen awards from Beauty, Hair and Across The Board, with Headmasters Mayfair salon picking up one of the most prestigious awards of the evening Hair Salon of the Year for the London region.

 Once all award winners had been congratulated the party really got started as winners danced the night away sipping wine and cocktails while the DJ pumped out high octane floor-fillers into the small hours.

For a modern update on this trend go for sheer ombre, it’s much more subtle and super flattering enhancing the natural tones of the hair to illuminate features. To get this colour ask your stylist to add lightness to the lengths of the hair, this will encourage movement and volume, whilist boosting shine and vitality at the same time for a chic luxe finish.”

Naomi created a stunning editorial look in just 45mintues demonstrating her knowledge of catwalk trends and hairdressing expertise, competing with over 65 other salons to make it through to the final stage.

HM insider catches up with Naomi to find out the inspiration behind the winning look.

“Inspired by Jean Paul Gaultier A/W catwalk and the jewel colour trend, I made the look wearable by mixing rich ruby, bronze and glossy auburn tones throughout the hair from root to tip. I prepped the hair with L’Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil and L’Oreal Professionnel Volume Riche for extra shine and bounce, completing the look with a luxe blow dry for a high society, glamorous finish.

Inspiration for styling came from the Versace AW12 collection. The model looked gorgeous, strong yet feminine wearing a floor length black velvet dress with cut out panels. I loved the smoky charcoal eyes and flawless porcelain skin it really complemented the statement colour of the hair.”

Aaron explained” the brief we were given was to create easy, natural looks that every girl would be able to achieve, it was to look like the models had done it themselves.

With that in mind we prepped the hair with L’Oreal Professionnel tecni.art pli, this helps give a lived in feel with a bit of texture and dried the hair with our fingers to give that air dried feel.   Random sections were wound around a large tong for an undone wave and tied into a low pony at the nape.  We massaged the roots and hairline creating extra flyaway hairs and finally spritzed with L’Oreal Professionnel Playball Beach Fizz.”
